What is the difference between the 1000 and 3000 Series?
The 1000 Series is a pre-assembled single cartridge pusher seal designed for standard ANSI and DIN pump applications. It covers the broadest range of general service conditions. The 3000 Series is a component-style seal that is custom engineered for a specific piece of equipment, typically in steel mills or other environments where abrasion, contamination, and non-standard geometry rule out off-the-shelf solutions.
When should I specify a dual cartridge seal (2000 Series) instead of a single?
Choose the 2000 Series whenever regulations or process safety requirements prohibit any leakage of the sealed fluid to atmosphere, for example toxic chemicals, hydrocarbons above their flash point, or food and pharmaceutical streams. The tandem or double arrangement adds a second sealing face and a barrier or buffer fluid zone that catches any leakage from the primary seal.
What makes the 6000 Series different from the other series?
The 6000 Series replaces the conventional spring and elastomeric secondary seal with a welded stainless steel bellows element. This eliminates the dynamic O-ring that wears and swells in aggressive or extreme-temperature service. Metal bellows seals are commonly specified for cryogenic service, high-temperature fluids, and strongly corrosive or low-viscosity media that degrade rubber quickly.
