Mechanical Seals
2000 Series

Designed to be the longest lasting, most reliable double seal.

A double balanced, dual cartridge seal for services where dual seals are required, with three connections to accommodate API Plan 52 and API Plan 53 piping plans.

FSI Type 2080D dual cartridge mechanical seal, 2000 Series
FSI Type 2080D

Longer Seal Life Where Dual Seals Are Required

The FSI Type 2080D is a double balanced, dual cartridge seal that is ideal for use where dual seals are required. Designed using Finite Element Analysis simulation that optimizes its components, the Type 2080D is a more structurally sound seal that provides longer seal life.

Premium-grade construction is standard for the FSI Type 2080D which features Viton™ elastomers, 316 stainless steel hardware, premium carbon, and sintered silicon carbide faces. The FSI Type 2080D features three connections to accommodate API Plan 52 and API Plan 53 piping plans. A stationary design enables optimal face alignment, and its C-276 springs are isolated from the product to eliminate clogging and loss of face loading.

Double-balanced primary and mating rings allow for pressure in either direction, enabling the FSI Type 2080D to run as a pressurized or non-pressurized dual seal arrangement. Robust cross sections allow for minimal rotation of the faces. The 2080D's semi-dynamic O-rings move across a non-metallic, smooth surface which eliminates the possibility of elastomer fretting. The O.D. pressure on the outboard seal allows for better cooling, higher pressure capabilities and venting of entrapped air in vertical applications. The efficiency of the pumping ring facilitates better cooling between the seals. As with all of our seals, the FSI Type 2080D is factory preset to eliminate installation errors and is pressure tested to ensure greater sealing reliability for your application.

Pressurized or Non-Pressurized

Because the primary and mating rings are double balanced, the 2080D handles pressure from either direction. The same cartridge runs as a pressurized dual seal on API Plan 53 or a non-pressurized dual seal on API Plan 52.

Design Features

Why the 2080D Lasts Longer

Finite Element Analysis Design

Simulation-optimized components make the 2080D a more structurally sound seal with longer seal life.

Premium-Grade Construction

Viton™ elastomers, 316 stainless steel hardware, premium carbon, and sintered silicon carbide faces as standard.

Three Connections

Accommodates API Plan 52 and API Plan 53 piping plans.

Stationary Design, Isolated Springs

Optimal face alignment, with C-276 springs isolated from the product to eliminate clogging and loss of face loading.

Double Balanced Faces

Primary and mating rings take pressure in either direction, for pressurized or non-pressurized dual seal arrangements.

Robust Cross Sections

Heavy sections allow for minimal rotation of the faces.

No Elastomer Fretting

Semi-dynamic O-rings move across a non-metallic, smooth surface.

Better Cooling Between the Seals

O.D. pressure on the outboard seal and an efficient pumping ring improve cooling, raise pressure capability, and vent entrapped air in vertical applications.

Factory Preset and Pressure Tested

Every cartridge ships preset to eliminate installation errors and pressure tested for reliability.

Choose Your Arrangement

One Cartridge, Two Piping Plans

Non-Pressurized Dual Seal
API Plan 52

An unpressurized buffer fluid between the inboard and outboard seals. The three cartridge connections tie directly into the Plan 52 reservoir piping.

  • Buffer fluid runs below seal chamber pressure
  • Pumping ring circulates the buffer fluid for cooling
  • Outboard seal contains process leakage
Pressurized Dual Seal
API Plan 53

A pressurized barrier fluid held above seal chamber pressure. Double balanced faces carry the reversed pressure without a change in hardware.

  • Barrier fluid runs above seal chamber pressure
  • O.D. pressure on the outboard seal for higher pressure capability
  • Vents entrapped air in vertical applications
Send us the pump make, model, shaft size, service conditions, and your piping plan and we will confirm the right arrangement.
