Rubber Expansion Joints

Style 2002, 2020, and 2031 rubber expansion joints in single arch, offset, multiple arch, sleeve, and taper reducer configurations for waste and water, chemical, marine, steel and aluminum, power, HVAC, pulp and paper, and mining service.

All rubber expansion joints are available in single arch, offset, multiple arch, sleeve, and taper reducer configurations. Anchor Seals Inc. supplies three constructions: Style 2002 wire reinforced with heavy steel body rings for general industrial service, Style 2020 with a fused seamless FEP lining for corrosive media, and Style 2031 reinforced nylon tire cord with a flowing arch.

Every style carries a standard chlorobutyl cover with Hypalon paint for maximum weather resistance, with fiberglass and Kevlar reinforcement and fluoroelastomer options that raise the temperature rating to 400°F. Send us the pipe size, media, pressure, temperature, and movement and we will recommend the style and arch.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

All Expansion Joints

Which rubber expansion joint style should I use?

Style 2002 is the general service joint for water, wastewater, HVAC, and most process lines. Choose Style 2020 when the media is corrosive, because its fused seamless FEP lining and FEP covered flanges keep the rubber out of contact with the fluid. Style 2031 is the nylon tire cord flowing arch joint for higher pressure in the 2 inch to 6 inch range.

What do single arch, offset, multiple arch, sleeve, and taper reducer mean?

They are the body configurations every style is available in. A single arch absorbs movement in a standard flanged joint, a multiple arch adds movement capacity, an offset compensates for misaligned pipe, a sleeve slips over plain pipe ends, and a taper reducer connects two different pipe sizes, either concentric or eccentric.

What is the HP version?

HP is the high pressure build of Styles 2002 and 2020, rated 200 psi in 1/2 inch to 6 inch sizes versus 165 psi for the standard joint, with higher ratings at every size up the range. Chlorobutyl is recommended for high pressure and vacuum service up to 250°F.

How do I get a higher temperature rating?

The standard chlorobutyl and polyester construction is rated 250°F. Chlorobutyl with fiberglass and Kevlar reinforcement raises that to 300°F, and a fluoroelastomer body with fiberglass and Kevlar reaches 400°F. Specify the temperature when you request a quote and we will build the joint to match.
