PTFE Packing
Virgin, filled, fibrillated, and expanded PTFE sheet for chemical, monomer, and critical service, plus compressed non-asbestos sheet in carbon, aramid, and inorganic fiber for general, steam, acid, and potable water service.
PTFE is the most chemically inert sealing material in common use, handling nearly every acid, base, and solvent across the full pH range. Anchor Seals Inc. stocks it as skived virgin and glass filled sheet for general service, high fibrillation sheet for creep resistance under bolt load, and expanded PTFE for critical flanges, along with an NSF-61 certified grade for potable water.
For service where PTFE is not required, the compressed non-asbestos sheets below cover general, high temperature, steam, acid, and low load flanges. Every style can be supplied as sheet or cut to gaskets in our in-house gasket shop.

Frequently Asked Questions
All Mechanical PackingsWhat is the difference between skived and fibrillated PTFE?
Skived PTFE (Styles TF1500 and TF1525) is shaved from a molded billet into a dense, smooth sheet for general chemical service. High fibrillation PTFE (Styles TF1560 through TF1590) is processed so the PTFE fibers interlock in multiple directions, which gives the material far better creep and cold flow resistance under bolt load.
What does the compressibility figure mean?
Compressibility is how much the material thickness reduces under a standard load. A low figure such as 4 to 10 percent means a firm sheet for high bolt loads and high pressure. A high figure such as 25 to 45 percent means a soft, conformable sheet for rough, warped, or low load flanges.
Which styles are approved for potable water?
Styles TF1572 SAN (PTFE) and 1082 SAN (non-asbestos) are NSF-61 certified for potable water contact and sanitary service.
What is the difference between max temperature and continuous temperature?
Max temperature is the short term peak the material can survive. Continuous temperature is the rating for steady operation and is the figure to design to. Style NA1122 steam sheet, for example, peaks at 1022°F but is rated 806°F continuous.
