Garlock Packing
The full Garlock compression packing line from Anchor Seals Inc.: carbon and graphite filament, flexible graphite, PTFE, aramid, and synthetic styles in LATTICE BRAID, square braid, braid over core, and die-formed sets for pumps, reciprocating equipment, and valves.
Garlock is one of the most specified names in compression packing, and Anchor Seals Inc. stocks the line for rotary, reciprocating, and valve service. Sixteen styles cover everything from cryogenic PTFE to 850°F flexible graphite, with pressure ratings from 300 psig on general service pumps to 10,000 psig on die-formed valve sets.
Use the selection guide below to narrow the choice by service, temperature, and pressure, then send us the equipment details. We cross-reference existing Garlock styles, supply spools or pre-cut rings, and can assemble die-formed valve sets to your stem and bore.
Sixteen Garlock Styles
Why Garlock Packing
LATTICE BRAID construction locks every strand for even compression and long service life.
Carbon and graphite filament styles run to 4000 fpm and pH 0 to 14.
Inconel wire-reinforced styles hold high valve pressures without extrusion.
PTFE and synthetic styles for chemical, food, and general service pumps.
Die-formed flexible graphite sets for rotary equipment and high pressure valves.
Available by the spool, as pre-cut rings, or as assembled valve sets.

Frequently Asked Questions
All Mechanical PackingsWhat is LATTICE BRAID?
LATTICE BRAID is Garlock's interbraided construction in which every strand passes diagonally through the body of the packing and locks with the others. The result is a dense, resilient packing that compresses evenly, resists extrusion, and does not unravel when cut, which is why most Garlock pump and valve styles use it.
Which Garlock style should I use for a general service pump?
For water and mild chemical service on centrifugal pumps, Styles 8909, 8913, 8921-K, and 8922 are the synthetic workhorses, rated to 500 or 550°F and 300 to 500 psig. For higher speed, higher temperature, or a wider pH range, move to the carbon filament styles 98, 105, 108, or G-200.
What do I use for high pressure valves?
Style 9000 EVSP die-formed flexible graphite sets are rated to 10,000 psig at 850°F. Styles 1298 and 1303-FEP reach 4500 psig and are Inconel reinforced for stem service, and Style 1333-G reaches 4000 psig with graphite filament reinforcement.
Do you cross-reference other packing brands to Garlock?
Yes. Send us the style number of the packing you use today, along with the media, temperature, and shaft or stem size, and we will identify the equivalent Garlock style and quote it by the spool or as pre-cut rings.
